December's Middletown Book for Discussion: Hour of the Witch (Dec. 16)

The MUM Book Discussion group will next meet on Friday, December 16.  Our title is Chris Bohjalian's Hour of the Witch.  Here is a brief summary:

"The enthralling story of a young Puritan woman who marries the wrong man, seeks to divorce him, and soon finds herself caught up in the violence and hysteria of the Salem Witch Trials"  (publisher)

Here is where you can find the book:
  • There are several copies available through OhioLINK, and SearchOhio.
  • Amazon has the hardcover, paperback, Kindle, and audiobook available, and Bookshop.org has links to purchase the title from independent booksellers.
Our group is always finding interesting titles to share, and we look forward to the new things you'll bring to the table.  In addition to discussing When the Emperor Was Divine, the group also shared these titles for consideration at their October 21 meeting:
  • Lincoln in the Bardo, George Saunders
  • Remains of the Day, Kazuo Ishiguro
  • Never Let Me Go,  Kazuo Ishiguro
  • Ordinary Grace, William Kent Krueger
  • All the Lovers in the Night, Mieko Kawakami
  • China, Edward Rutherfurd
  • The Island of Sea Women, Lisa See
  • The Broken Ladder: How Inequality Affects the Way We Think, Live, and Die, Keith Payne
We will meet at 12 pm on the 16th both in Room 123 in the Library and in Zoom at
