September 11, 2001: The Day That Changed the World poster exhibit at Gardner-Harvey Library

The Gardner-Harvey Library staff is excited to announce our participation in "September 11, 2001: The Day That Changed the World", a downloadable educational exhibition that presents the history of 9/11, its origins, and its ongoing implications through the personal stories of those who witnessed and survived the attacks. Told across 14 posters, this exhibition includes archival photographs and images of artifacts from the 9/11 Memorial & Museum’s permanent collection. It explores the consequences of terrorism on individual lives and communities at the local, national, and international levels, and encourages critical thinking about the legacies of 9/11.

The posters and some 9/11 related books from the library collection are on display on the main floor of the library.  We also have a whiteboard in place for participants to share how they will remember 9/11.  They are available for viewing at any time the library is open.  The exhibition will last through the end of September.

The poster exhibition was developed by the 9/11 Memorial & Museum and has been made possible in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities: Democracy Demands Wisdom. Geology poster sessions and presentations at the Gardner-Harvey Library (Middletown)

Join us on the week after Thanksgiving as students from two Geology courses provide poster sessions and presentations.  Students will be presenting their work in the Library on both Monday, December 2 and Wednesday, December 4.  

GLG 141 students will display and present their posters from 10:05-11:25am.  Their posters focus on the geology of the National Parks.  They are already on display on the main floor of the library near the front entrance.

GLG 307 students will present  in the Library S.P.A.C.E. (GRD 014) from 1:15-2:35pm. Their presentations focus on geologically-informed approaches to providing safe drinking water for a community, based on a case study. 

Please join us (even for a few minutes) to learn from these impressive student efforts!

Join us next week as students from two Geology courses display and discuss the posters they created!

GLG 121 students will present their posters on Tuesday, May 7th from 4:30-7:00pm.  Their topics focus on environmental geology issues.

GLG 244 students will present their posters on Wednesday, May 8th from 1:30-3:00pm.  Their topics focus on issues impacting the world's oceans.
