Welcome Back Pop-Up Making and Textbooks for Free at the Gardner-Harvey Library (Middletown)

Join us for Pop-Up Making at the Gardner-Harvey Library this week, on Tuesday (Jan. 28) and Wednesday (Jan. 29) and take home a free handmade item you'll make with the magic of sublimation. You may drop in the library any time between 10am and 4pm on the 28th and 29th.

Did you know you can borrow Textbooks for Free from the Gardner-Harvey Library? Our Textbook on Reserve program offers copies of textbooks for the following courses.

Most textbooks are available for 1 day check-outs. Don't see your class? Stop by or contact the library, we can also help you find free options for your other textbooks! Instructors: do you wish us to have a copy of your textbook in our reserve collection? Let us know the course and textbook.

TEC Lab Mini-Maker Faire at the Gardner-Harvey Library (Feb. 2)



Join us on Wednesday, February 2 for our Mini Maker Faire! The Faire is open for you to stop in any time between 11am and 1pm.  We'll be in the Gardner-Harvey Library at Middletown, in Room 125 and adjacent rooms.

Stop in to check out our TEC Lab and all the equipment available to use. We will have a variety of stations set up so you can make items to take with you. 

Have you wanted to try sublimation? Design your own tote with sublimation. Are you interested in 3D printing? Watch our printers in action and try your hand with a 3D pen. Did you know the library has a laser engraving machine? Create a drink coaster with your name engraved. 

Drop by during a session to try these maker projects and others. Attendees will have the opportunity to enter raffles and win their own maker supplies!

TEC Lab Workshop: Make Personalized Holiday Ornaments (Dec. 1)


Looking for a little something special to decorate your holidays, or to give as a gift?  Come to the TEC Lab Makerspace on Wednesday, December 1 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.  

We'll be using the laser cutter to create wooden and acrylic ornaments, engraving names, messages, and more on them.  We'll also have clear, empty ornaments on hand for you to fill or decorate, and more fun ways to make things.

Are ornaments not your thing? Well, the same technology can be used to engrave a wooden or acrylic item for other purposes.  Come try it out!

Sign up today to hold your spot - we may need to limit attendance based on demand. We'll be in touch to confirm your reservation.

Can't make it on the 1st?  Use this calendar to make an appointment to work with us on another day that week. 

Enjoy this free creative experience as we reach the end of the semester - and take home a marvelous creation!

Sublimation and Vinyl at the TEC Lab Makerspace! (Nov. 3)

Join us on Wednesday, November 3rd for our TEC Lab workshop on sublimation and vinyl! You may stop in any time between 11am and 1pm, or between 4pm and 6pm to learn how to make items.


Check out our TEC Lab and all the equipment available to use. We will have materials and guidance ready for you to make items to take with you. From mugs to shirts, sublimation printing and heat transfer vinyl can create high quality custom items. Participants can create their own items using these two techniques for printing while learning about each process and the types of items they can be used with.  You can see more information on sublimation and vinyl on our Middletown TEC Lab Makerspace guide.

We are limiting you to 2 blank items per person, but additional blanks can be purchased at minimal cost. 


This workshop is free and open to the public.

The event will be held in the TEC Lab makerspace (Room 125) at the Gardner-Harvey Library on the MIddletown campus.

Holograms and Lasers at the TEC Lab Makerspace! (Oct. 6)



Join us on Wednesday, October 6th for our TEC Lab workshop on holograms and lasers! You may stop in any time between 11am and 1pm, or between 4pm and 6pm to learn how to make items.

Check out our TEC Lab and all the equipment available to use. We will have materials and guidance ready for you to make items to take with you.  We'll show a way to record a video and then convert it into a hologram you can project from your phone.  We'll also show how you can engrave an image onto wood, clear plastic, or a coaster.

This workshop is free and open to the public.

The event will be held in the TEC Lab makerspace (Room 125) at the Gardner-Harvey Library on the MIddletown campus.

TEC Tuesday Online! Phone Holograms


Did you know that you could make a video that looks like a hologram.  Did you know that you could project this video (and lots of other holograms from YouTube) from your phone?

The TEC Lab is moving online this semester to bring exciting making projects to you on the first Tuesday of each month.

On Tuesday October 6, 2020, we will post a video and instructions on easily creating hologram videos and also creating a viewer that brings your hologram into the world to amaze everyone.  In addition, if you need any supplies for the project, we'll make them available for you to pick up from the library.

Sublimation Printing in the TEC Lab Makerspace!

Stop by the TEC Lab in the Gardner-Harvey Library to learn about sublimation printing. From mugs to shirts, sublimation printing can create high quality custom items. Participants can create their own item using this special ink printing technique while learning about the process and the types of items this method can be used with. Limited to 1 blank item per person. Additional sublimation blanks can be purchased at minimal cost.

TEC Tuesday: Meet the laser engraver and cutter!



For this TEC Tuesday workshop, participants will learn how to use the laser cutter to cut shapes and engrave designs in wood, plastic, stamps, metal, fabric and more!   

Participants will be able to use their new knowledge to choose a design or image to cut and take home!  Engrave a photo!  Cut out a cool shape!  We hope you'll enjoy this experience and return to create other personalized items (stamps, engraved rolling pins, puzzles, etc.).

This workshop is free and open to the public.

TEC Tuesday: Make a personalized tote bag with our heat press!



For this TEC Tuesday workshop, participants will learn how to design and cut their own heat transfer vinyl designs with the Cameo Silhouette, and then get hands-on experience with a heat press.

Participants will be able to use their new knowledge to design their own tote bag.  We hope you'll enjoy this experience and return to create other personalized items (t-shirts, bags, etc.).

How to TEC: Basic Wiring, How to 3D Print


For this First Wednesday TEC Lab Workshop, how to wire a basic light as well as gain information on 3D printing. Participants will be able to use their knowledge to design their own 3D printed light.

This workshop is free and open to the public.
