Share video with classes using Video on Demand!

Video on Demand, a new service from Miami University Libraries, is entering its second semester of use at the Gardner-Harvey Library. Faculty members may request that Miami-owned videos and DVDs be encoded for viewing over the web. A link to the encoded video is then provided to the faculty member to place in his or her Blackboard classroom. Students may view the videos on campus or from off-campus.

Off-campus viewing requires students to install the Cisco Virtual Private Networking client on the computer on which they wish to watch the video. From that computer, students should go to https://muvpn.muohio.edu/ and login using their Unique IDs and passwords. Then follow the on-screen instructions to install the Cisco VPN Client.

They should then run the Cisco VPN Client (from the "Start-->All Programs" menu), which will prompt them to enter their UniqueID and password to connect securely from off-campus. Once this connection is made, they may enter their Blackboard classroom and click on the URL for the video to start playing. Repeated viewings of videos only requires students to run the Cisco VPN Client and login -- there is no need to install the VPN client multiple times.

Please contact the library with your questions on Video on Demand or use our online reserve form (selecting the "Video on Demand" option from the drop-down menus) to have visual materials added to Video on Demand.
